Rita Duffy, Ornament
A3 Print of a still from Anatomy of Hope.
Anatomy of Hope was developed from drawings produced by Rita Duffy during the anxiety ridden and precarious times of the lockdown period in 2020.
‘Methodically, I began making a series of anatomical drawings, hearts and lungs describe the physicality of being human, they fuse with images of spring flowers floating in through the garden window - drawing has my trust, it has always sustained me in tough times - I stay focused, the work gathers me in and reassures me , I leave behind the babbling TV voices and move into my own entirely magical space.’
Materials, Messages and Meanings #9 Theme ‘Remember’
Six artists based in Northern Ireland have been selected from an open call as part of our Materials, Messages and Meaning series. Now in its ninth year, these exhibitions explore artists’ different approaches to materials, methods of production and messages within their work.
