You are invited to a drop in jam session with Philip 'Japoleon' Poleon for the close of the exhibition A Life in Dub on the evening of Friday 10th February.
The session will be held in the gallery space, a space that is no stranger to music events, for an evening of creative collaboration and music making. Bring your instrument of choice along, or a foot to tap, and join in -----ALL WELCOME-----
As well as playing alsongside many of Jamaica's most established acts, Philip has been involved with musicians and aspiring music makers of all skill levels in sessions and workshops since the 1980s. He is looking forward to coming back to Northern Ireland to meet local music makers for the closing of A Life in Dub, the first stage of this expanding project.
About Japoleon
As a musician he has performed with many of Jamaica’s most established acts such as Horace Andy and Gregory Isaacs, appearing on the “Later with Jools Holland Show” in 1995 on BBC2. He has also been involved in album projects with these international acts, and have toured both nationally and internationally, often also being responsible for selecting personnel for ensembles.
He runs Class Act Music, Media and Management ,covering various musical and related technical activities that includes running the day to day affairs of its clients (artistes and bands), advising on technical specifications, co-ordinating and participating in recordings and live concerts as welI as album projects involving co-ordinating recordings, co- writing and arranging songs and compositions. He also co-owns Kage One, a pre-production suite well equipped with the latest musical technologies.
