Artist Statement
“The theme in my life at his moment is vulnerable. During graduation and writing down the process to explain the road I have been traveling, It started with wonder and ended that it is all about searching, fragility, patterns in which we got stuck, all with a little bit of humour.”
Originally a stand-out submission for the 2020 Linen Biennale, this exhibition features mixed media linen-based sculptural pieces from her series “white”.
Birgit says “The artworks are a mix of materials and objects, composing a new image, to tell a story, my story. With the form and shape, having something which can be recognized, it makes it easy to have your own thoughts. The title of the work is sometimes the introduction to the story, to give a little bit of humor.
My story is a search to the why, being fragile, searching for patterns in which our brain finds something to hold on. In which the delusion of the day seduces us. Where we forget to enjoy the small things we already have. Without shouting for attention, in its being simple and respectful. Nothing taken for granted, trying to see the things from another perspective.”
